The automatic gearbox in your Jaguar requires the correct type of transmission fluid to function correctly. The maintenance of the transmission fluid is very important and will have a direct correlation between the longevity of the gearbox, and satisfactory operation. Transmission fluids contain a mix of lubricants and chemicals that keep the internal parts of the gearbox in optimum condition, enabling smooth operation and gear change at the correct speed and load. As part of your annual service, the condition and level of your Jaguar's transmission fluid should be checked and replaced at intervals specified in Jaguar's Service Schedule to help keep the gearbox in good health for longer. It is also vitally important the correct filter and fluids are used.
