Your Jaguar has a Track Rod End at each front wheel, where it joins the steering rack to the hub allowing a fixed and pivotal movement when the steering wheel is turned. Track Rod Ends are threaded onto the Tie Rods mounted on the rack, and can be adjusted for length to correctly align the front wheels whenever you have the tracking checked on your Jaguar. The Ball Joint on Track Rod Ends will wear over time, causing play in the steering and sometimes a knocking noise too. When you have any steering components replaced, always have the alignment checked and adjusted as necessary immediately after as a safety concern, and to optimise the efficiency, performance and feel of your Jaguar.
