Shock absorbers, or Dampers, work with the Road Springs on your Jaguar to make the driving experience as comfortable as possible. The shock absorbers basic purpose is to limit the travel of the suspension springs, and to regulate the rate at which the springs compress and extend. The Shock absorbers are often tuned either for 'Sport or 'Comfort' and should be replaced with an equivalent specification. A failed Shock Absorber will often have a misting of oil around the seal, and thus will have a lesser damping effect. You should replace the shock absorbers on your Jaguar in pairs. Have your suspension checked over by a competent person to make sure it is in good working order.
