The Ignition Coils in your Jaguar are a high voltage, low current transformer that converts the 12 Volt supply from the battery in your Jaguar to the circa. 20-30 thousand volts required to create a spark in the combustion chamber at a specific time. Ignition Coils can fail in a number of ways. You may notice a misfire, hesitancy or a deterioration in efficiency and performance. A competent person can easily check if your Jaguar has a faulty Ignition Coil by scanning your Jaguar, identifying the misfiring cylinder, and then swapping the Ignition Coils over to see if the misfire code changes to a different cylinder or not. It is best practice to replace all Ignition Coils on your Jaguar at the same time, as they are all exposed to the same conditions, and likely if one has worn out, the rest will be in a similar state of wear.
