The Valve Stem Oil Seals in your Jaguar's engine aree a device that allows the vertical movement of the valves as the engine rotates, and keeps the oil in the Valve Cover from leaking into the combustion chamber. Symptoms of failed Valve Stem Seals include a puff of oily smoke when you start your Jaguar from cold, as the oil has slowly leaked over time into the combustion chamber while the engine is off. If you notice this when you start your Jaguar, have a competent person check over your Jaguar to diagnose the issue correctly.
