The Knock Sensors on your Jaguar's engine are there to monitor vibrations in the engine, and relay this information back to the Engine Management to make adjustments in the ignition to eliminate engine 'knock' or 'pinging'. If a Knock Sensor on your Jaguar has failed, you will likely not notice anything during normal driving, other than the Check Engine Light coming up, a slight reduction in performance and efficiency, and maybe some knock or pinging.
